Arne Jacobsen designed the AJ lamp series in 1957 as part of his comprehensive design for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. The table lamp, with its white-painted interior, provides pleasant, downward-directed light and features an adjustable shade for customizing illumination. The AJ series, one of Jacobsen’s most iconic designs, also includes a smaller table lamp, a floor lamp, a wall lamp, and a fixed table lamp. All these designs were integral to the hotel when it opened in 1960, appearing in copper and stainless steel finishes. The elegant, geometric design of the AJ lamp, combining straight and curved lines, reflects Jacobsen's architectural style and his holistic approach to the hotel’s design, where nearly every detail was his creation.
